In keeping with the current series of work that I have been creating this past year, I used an old photo from my past as the featured photos on my holiday cards that I send out each year...1956 in fact...my sisters and I standing in front of the holiday tree my Dad always went out to cut for the family. We always had a wonderful large tree as Dad would go back into land around Redding where he worked and cut trees for all the management at the lumber plant he worked at and he got to cut for our family as well, so we always had a beautiful tree. He always came home with about ten trees in the back of his truck..unloud ours first and off he's go to deliver all the others. By the time he came home we'd be working on decorating the tree. In those days we didn't have TV, so had lots of time to do all the fun things kids don't do these days.
Printed off the cards today and now I need to fold and put into the envelopes, all ready to go out next week...I know, I know....I'm early, but it's always been the first thing I do to get me into the spirit of the holidays...get the cards done and out and then I can get on with the rest of the process. I'll probably want a couple of weeks to put up the tree and house decorations, but yes, I'll be doing that also. I am having Christmas dinner here for my kids and grandkids, so I have to have a tree up, where else would I put all their gifts.....right????
Been busy creating a street number sign for the gallery...finished and plan to install this coming Monday....and I am working up a couple of new pieces of work to offer for their upcoming featured artist group exhibit for the gallery...they can select which one they want and I'll probably gift away the other one. I do have another commission coming in this coming week..from a prior customer..I like that to happen...they remembered what I done for them prior and liked it and now they want more....good business!!!! And she's going to show what I have done for her to her book club group, so maybe I'll get some business out of that lead also. Commission are were I make 100% and I like that.
