The gallery group is having their own featured artist exhibit for December, so I wanted to create something new and different for me to show. I wanted to do something outside what I have been creating this past year and I have been drawing these silly birds all the time in my fiber journal, so decided to take it a step further and create a new bird piece. I really have a fondness for birds for some reason. The above pink paper drawing is one of many I drew once evening and from those drawings I selected this one as my base to work from to create a finished piece.
And this is the piece fabric fused and ready to be sewn. Titled it "Holiday Geese" and it's 14" x 16" stretched to the back/finished for hanging. I will sew sequin snowflakes above the geese to top it off and give it a little glitz. Delivering it tomorrow to the gallery for 12/8 hanging of the exhibit for the month into January. In January the gallery is having another group show..."New Work" and I'm working on another new piece for that show, but not ready to exhibit on the blog yet. I'll take before, during and after pics so you can see the progress. Love the geese feet...pink w/yellow and darker pink spots...pink feet!!!!
I have decided that for 2012 I'm going to continue creating my Buried Deep series, mainly for the gallery and for a solo exhibit, but I'm also going to create other series featuring my favorite images....Birds, Fish, Glass Bottles in organza, new series of fiber vessels...experimentation and fun for the year to see what I can come up with creatively. Time to do a little play with a series in mind!!!!
